Sen. Barack Obama won the Mississippi primaries 61 percent to 37 percent, effectively eliminating any gains Sen. Clinton made on Obama last Tuesday. The state voted on mainly racial lines, with over 90 percent of the black vote going to the senator from Illinois and 80 percent of the white vote going to the senator from New York. The Clinton camp surprisingly congratulated Sen. Obama on his victory, which they had neglected to do during his 12 state winning streak spanning February and March. Even though Hillary Clinton was declared the winner of Texas last Tuesday, with the caucus results finally estimated, it is predicted that Obama will actually end up gaining three more delgates than Clinton from the state. CNN’s latest delegate count has Obama with 1,597 delegates leading Clinton’s 1,470 delegates.
