Sen. Hillary Clinton recently reasserted in an interview with Newsweek that pledged delegates can vote for whomever they choose, which is a not-so-vague hint that they can and should switch their votes to her if they are in fact pledged to Sen. Obama. When asked about how she feels about the math going against her, Clinton replied:
It doesn’t look bleak at all. I have a very close race with Senator Obama. There are elected delegates, caucus delegates and superdelegates, all for different reasons, and they’re all equal in their ability to cast their vote for whomever they choose. Even elected and caucus delegates are not required to stay with whomever they are pledged to. This is a very carefully constructed process that goes back years, and we’re going to follow the process.
Translation, “If you voted for Barack Obama and he won in your district, I don’t care about your vote. I will do everything I can to see that you are disenfranchised and your vote does not matter, because I’m a fighter.”
