The Senate voted Tuesday on a bill that would grant intelligence agencies permanent authority to conduct foreign intelligence without a warrant, as well as grant immunity for telecommunications companies that illegally cooperated with Bush after Sept. 11th by letting the National Security Agency eavesdrop without warrants on the international communications of Americans.

John McCain cruised to another three victories in the Potomac primaries on Tuesday, further solidifying his role as the Republican front-runner. While Mike Huckabee briefly gave him a run for his money in Virginia, the final results for all three primaries strongly favor the Arizona senator.

In a race where the prominent Republican and Democrat both strongly attract independents, tonight’s race in Virginia showed a large pull of these voters moving toward Barack Obama and away from John McCain.
